The Angas Memorial is a substantial heritage structure in the Adelaide City Parklands. An over life size bronze angel with huge wings steps up marble stairs. Originally the angel held a palm frond in her hands. The frond was damaged over time and has been completely missing for many years. A search of the City Archives shows no record of when the frond was removed.

Replacement of the missing palm frond was a complex and difficult brief. Artlab Australia chose Liquid Metal Studios to undertake fabrication of the replica frond because we were able to address their very stringent criteria. The replica was required to match in style the existing work, and substantially replicate the original as shown in the archival photos. It is also required to be sturdy, vandal resistant, and able to withstand the elements.

Almost two years of planning, and a year of fabrication and bronze casting resulted in a work that fit all of Artlabs criteria and was wholeheartedly endorsed by the Heritage architects and the Adelaide City Council. The new frond blends seamlessly with the angel.

The replica frond is also an aesthetically pleasing artwork in its own right and is signed and dated by the artists.
